We Industrial Designers have to keep our skills up to par. Seeing new trends or techniques are simply eye candy if we don’t get a chance to practice them. Questioning how to work something into your style or try out what it’d be like to design something new is vital. Between projects or contracts is a great time to cross something off your design wishlist and show a potential client you can strike in different zones.

For me, modern furniture and lighting is a space I don’t get to frequent, On my last stretch of free time I grabbed my sketchbook, opened fusion 360 and got to work. Nothing Crazy Just Bright is simply an exploration in form and detailing. The piece was intended to be a cohesive execution of a modern lighting solution. I am very fond of mechanisms and an “engineered” look. Building this was a ton of fun and, who knows, I may end up bringing it to life one day.
