During my time at Western Washington University I was lucky enough to have some really creative professors. Professors who allowed us previews to what working with an actual client could be like. Hi-Duo started as an innovative flashlight to pitch in one of these fictional partnerships. Afterward, it turned into a real life journey.

When it was all said and done my fully functional prototype had dual lighting capabilities, custom PCBAs, a simple button interface to navigate between modes, carabiner hooks, and a design built around rational shape relationships. Through my journey of sketching to a finished prototype I received an education that rivaled my entire stay in college. Everything I know about design, engineering, and manufacturing grew to places I never anticipated and put me in an entirely different headspace. My design decisions became more confident, I became able to ground my opinions in real world pros and cons within product development. Hi-Duo became the project that showed me I could build true product.
